Who doesn’t like to save money while shopping for designer items?
If you are after any of these bags, I would definitely recommend that you check out the pre-loved market. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I believe in shopping pre-loved. I, for sure, feel a lot of excitement when purchasing a new bag directly from the boutique. But sometimes, it really makes sense to go pre-loved as that route can potentially save hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars. In this blog post I’ve decided to include some of the designer bags that, in my opinion, are worth buying pre-loved.
By now we all know that every year Chanel increases the prices for their iconic bags. In November 2018, the price of the Chanel Boy Bag has increased yet again. The Small Boy Bag has risen in price for 4.7% from $4,300 to $4,500, while the Medium and Large Boy bags have increased in price for $200. In June 2019, the Medium Boy Bag could be purchased in boutiques for $4,900 (instead of old price of $4,700), while the Large Boy Bag cost $5,400 (old price: $5,200).
Let’s face it: over the years Chanel prices have gone up insanely. Even though, price increases are great for bag resale value, they make it difficult for us to afford the bags directly from the boutiques.
As we all know, Chanel bags tend to hold their value very well. However, I’ve personally noticed that recently many Boy bags have been listed for sale on the pre-loved sites. It might be that the bag has dipped in popularity a little, since there are a lot of similar bags available on the market today. Looking for example, at the Diorama bag from Dior, which has the similar edginess to it, just like the Boy Bag. Chanel Boy, however, has already recommended itself as a classic piece.
Chanel Classic Flap is many people’s holy grail bag. Just like with the Boy Bag, Classic Flap goes up in price every year. In November 2018 it has yet again increased in price for over 5%, from $5,300 to $5,600. This is another handbag that is worth investing it.
I have noticed that in particular for the Jumbo size it’s very likely that you’ll be able to find a great deal on the pre-loved market. This might be because everyone is going crazy over the mini bags at the moment. So, if you’ve been thinking to add a Chanel Classic Flap of a Jumbo size to your collection, it’s definitely the right time to do it now.
I love Lady Dior bag. It’s a classic that always remains relevant. But, the thing about the Lady Dior bags, is that they don’t retain their values that well. So, if you are after a Lady Dior, I would definitely recommend that you check out the pre-loved market. In some cases, you can save over $1,000 of the retail price and get the bag in immaculate condition. For example, the Lady Dior Mini bag currently retails for $3,400. I’ve found a few of these in a like-new condition on the pre-loved market ranging from $1900 to $2500.
Definitely sound off in the comments below if this blog post has helped you save some money! Did I miss any other bags that make sense to be purchased pre-loved? I’d love to hear from you!
