The Best First Chanel Bag to Buy
Thinking of buying your first ever Chanel bag? Read this first! In this blog post I would like to share my opinion on buying your first ever Chanel bag!
For those of you following my blog for a while, you know that I find some Chanel bags great investment pieces. Chanel bags are classy, elegant and timeless. A bag from Chanel is always in style. These are the kind of bags that make a statement. Furthermore, you probably can never go wrong with going for Chanel. So, which bags do I think are the best for those looking at buying their first ever Chanel?
1. Chanel Classic Flap
Probably the most recognizable bag from Chanel is their Classic Flap. Over the years it has become a staple in handbag collections of next to every luxury fashion lover out there. No matter what size of the bag you buy it holds its value incredibly. I, personally, prefer the medium as it can be used for multiple occasions. Furthermore, the Classic Flap transitions really nicely from day to evening. I love pairing it with jeans and simple t-shirt for a casual look. But the bag also looks incredible with evening and formal outfits.
2. Chanel WOC (Wallet on Chain)
The Chanel Wallet on Chain, otherwise known as a WOC, is a perfect transition bag. It can be used both days and evenings, as a mini-bag, a crossbody, or as a clutch. The WOC is the least expensive bag from Chanel. Moreover, it’s a great investment piece as it has been steadily rising in value. WOC is one of the most popular pieces from Chanel. Since its release, it has become a classic and majority of designer purse lovers all around the World have it in their collections.
3. Chanel Coco Handle
I know this bag is still very relatively new to the market, but I believe it is meant to stick around. First introduced in the pre-fall 2015 Collection, the Chanel Coco Handle bag instantly stole hearts of many Chanel lovers out there. The design of the bag reminds me of a Classic Flap, but in a version of a tote. The bag comes in four sizes and can be worn as a top handle, a shoulder bag or a crossbody. If you like the style of the flap bag, but don’t want to be like the majority of the first time Chanel buyers sticking with the classics, then the Coco Handle bag is the one to go for!
4. Chanel Boy Bag
If you prefer a handbag that is less formal than the Classic Flap, you will like the Boy. The Chanel Boy bag has a capacity of the Classic Flap, but it offers a more edgier look. The Boy bag is still relatively new, however, it is safe to say that since it was first introduced in 2011, it has become a staple in handbag collections of next to every single Chanel lover out there. Furthermore, the Boy bag is also a good investment. Back when it was first introduced it had a price tag of little over $2,000. Since then, it has risen in price tremendously, starting at over $5000 (retail) today.
Which Chanel leather to go for?
You will generally have two leather options to choose from: Caviar or Lambskin. Caviar is a durable leather, while lambskin is very delicate. A general rule is that if you intend to use your bag frequently, you should go for caviar leather. Under constant use, Lambskin bag will show signs of wear way quicker. However, the lambskin, indeed, looks and feels way more luxurious. So, if you are concerned about the look, go for lambskin.
