YSL Uptown Pouch – The Best First YSL Purchase
Are you considering to make your first ever Saint Laurent (YSL) purchase?
To me it has always been a struggle to choose which item to get, if that’s my first ever item from a specific luxury brand. Usually, I’d prefer going for smaller items first, as doing that will let me test the brand’s quality before committing to a bigger splurge. Saint Laurent has always attracted me a lot. I find most of their handbag designs absolutely stunning, but I was never ready to pull a trigger and order one before testing out the brand’s quality.
If you are like me and are not willing to spend thousands on your first purchase from the brand, you are going to like this. Few months ago I stumbled upon several Youtube videos devoted to The Uptown Pouch by Saint Laurent. Theoretically, it’s a small leather good that comes together with the Uptown Tote. However, earlier this year, Saint Laurent started selling this pouch separately from the bag. As it says in the original listing for the item on the Saint Laurent’s website: Uptown Pouch is a small envelope clutch. It is made of 100% calfskin leather. It features gold-tone metal YSL initials and a magnetic closure. Why I believe the Uptown Clutch has quickly gained social media attention is its price. In the United States it retails for $475, while in Europe the price is Eur345, which is absolutely a steal for a designer clutch.
Why do I believe the Uptown Clutch is a great buy?
First of all, the size. The dimensions are: 27.0 x 16.0 x 2.0 CM or 10.5 x 6.2 x 0.8 INCHES. Uptown Clutch would easily fit a larger-sized iPhone, a card holder, a lipstick and few other small essentials, just as any other designer mini bag would.
Another reason, why I believe the Uptown Pouch Clutch is a great score, is its price. Can you name a designer clutch bag that costs less than $500? Even Louis Vuitton’s pouches retail for way more.
Another important thing to highlight is that the Uptown Clutch comes in several leather finishes. You can pick it up in either Shiny Smooth, Crocodile-Look or Grain de Poudre Embossed leather.
Moreover, as I have seen both on Instagram and on Youtube, many wear the Uptown Clutch with a chain. This way it transforms from a clutch to a shoulder bag. Thus, there are numerous posibilities when it comes to using it.
It’s always great to have the versatility when it comes to designer accessories. The Uptown Pouch has that. I think that it would transition beautifully from day to evening. One could wear it as a shoulder bag during the day and as a clutch during the evening.
Where to buy it?
Due to a lot of social media attention towards the item, Uptown Pouch tends to be pretty much always sold out everythere online, including the YSL website. It’s also quite difficult to score at the Saint Laurent boutiques. What I’d recommend doing, if you’d like to buy one for youself, is to frequently check out websites of luxury retailers carrying the item. I’ve seen it at Net-a-Porter, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and MyTheresa.
