Louis Vuitton Re-Releases the Odéon Bag
Just a few months ago, in another blog post, I spoke about discontinued Louis Vuitton handbags. The truth is that we absolutely loved some of those designs and were deeply disappointed by those discontinuations. However, luckily, we now live in the time when it’s considered trendy to revive old styles. In 2018, we witnessed a revival of the iconic Dior Saddle Bag and since then it kind of became a norm for Fashion Houses to look back in their archives and reissue old handbag designs. This season, it’s not an exception. Guess which handbag is coming back this Fall? It’s our vintage favorite Louis Vuitton Odéon!
The Louis Vuitton Odéon Bag finds its origins in the 1980’s. The original version of the bag came in the Classic LV Monogram canvas. The bag was later released in several sizes. The LV Odéon featured a natural cowhide leather trim, as well as a longer shoulder strap that also allowed to wear the bag crossbody. The Original LV Odéon was a great everyday bag and the style had its fan-base. Needless to mention that discontinuation of the bag has disappointed many.
The new 2020 Louis Vuitton Odéon, while undeniably inspired by its vintage counterpart, features several new tweaks. For example, instead of the leather trim at the top, the new Odéon has leather corners at the base, which make the bag more resilient to wear and tear. Furthermore, the shape of the new Odéon is slightly less round. The bag also features a double zip closure, a leather LV luggage hangtag sitting right in the middle of the front. In addition, it comes with an adjustable and fully removable leather shoulder strap. I’d say that the vintage LV Odéon got a modern upgrade.

The new Louis Vuitton Odéon features classic LV Monogram Canvas, with leather details in either Natural or Black color. The bag comes in two sizes: PM and MM. Looking at both sizes, the Odéon MM would be slightly wider and taller, compared to the bag in PM size. Nonetheless, both bags are surprisingly comfortable and roomy. Furthermore, the adjustable strap lets you wear the bag multiple ways. Not only can you wear it on the shoulder, but also crossbody. However, actually, there is one more way of wearing the Odéon…which is as a clutch! Simply remove the shoulder strap and the bag turns into an oversized clutch! Without a doubt, the new Louis Vuitton Odéon is a stylish and functional bag.
