Top 5 Fashion Trends for Fall/Winter 2020-2021
I don’t know how about you, but I am so looking forward for the moment when this COVID-19 madness is over and we get to live our lives as before. Since the beginning of the lockdown, my style can be described in just one word: loungewear. While the loungewear is pretty much considered the new normal now, I, personally, cannot wait for the day I am able to get dressed up again. Can anyone else relate?! This was also the reason why it was particularly exciting to find out what the trends are for Fall/Winter 2020-21. This season, we’ve certainly got a couple of standout trends to enter our closets! From reviving the 70’s to dressing like in the “Matrix”, these are the top 5 fashion trends for the coming season!
1. Vintage Fashion (The 70’s)

70’s are back! Even though we are in 2020, this Fall/Winter we are going to feel strong presence of the 70’s in our outfits. 70’s tailoring has been spotted on all major designer FW20 catwalks. From Celine’s 70’s-style shaffy shearling coats and platform loafers to Prada’s retro sweaters, this season 70’s are to be spotted everywhere. The good thing about the 70s fashion coming back and vintage fashion in general is that you likely already got the basics in your closet. How convenient, isn’t it!?
2. Everything Leather

This coming FW20 season, leather is championed by all major designers. Furthermore, this time it’s not just about leather jackets, it’s leather head-to-toe. Leather tops, blazers, pants, skirts, dresses and, of course, coats. Moreover, this fall, make sure to get ready for the ultimate 90’s revival. Black leather is making an unapologetic comeback. The “Matrix-style” has taken over the FW20 runways! Seen in FW20 catwalks of Fendi, Paco Rabanne and MiuMiu, “Matrix-style” black leather trench coats are a must-have this season.
3. Fringe

One of the biggest trends for FW20 is fringe. Fringed clothing is usually associated with the 1920’s, Western-style and hippie-era. However, this season designers have taken the fringe to the next level, incorporating it everywhere. Yes, this season we will be seeing fringe literally everywhere: in tops, dresses and even coats. Undeniably, fringe gives a lot of presence. Actually, Bottega Veneta’s FW20 fringed faux fur coat is an absolute show-stopper. However, if you prefer to take a more minimalistic approach when it comes to fashion trends, check out Jil Sander’s FW20 fringed monochrome dresses. The fringe is still there, but on a more minimal side.
4. Heavy Footwear/Chunky Boots

Boots are an absolute must-have for Fall/Winter season and it looks like in FW20, chunky boot silhouettes will be the ones taking the spotlight. We saw all kinds of chunky boots at FW20 runways. Prada and MiuMiu are offering us full-on army-inspired, heavy-duty chunky boots styles. Paco Rabanne, these season, took inspiration from the classic Dr. Martens. Dior, Giambattista Valli and Valentino also incorporated the heavy footwear trend in their shoe designs. Undeniably, this Fall/Winter chunky boots will be the key look. This type of shoe adds a statement to any outfit. Not even to mention, that chunky boots are perfect for the adverse Fall/Winter weather.
5. Hand-Held Bags

Following the huge success of The Pouch by Bottega Veneta, clutch bag trend is here to stay. Clutches and hand-held bags in general were spotted all over the FW20 catwalks. This season, there is a clutch shape for every occasion. From softly-structured clutches by Isabel Marant and Loewe to geometric and more defined, sturdy clutch bags by Celine, Lanvin and Givenchy, in FW20 we are spoilt by the variety of clutches to choose from. In my opinion, a clutch is a must-have in every woman’s closet. Not only it’s a perfect addition to evening looks, but it also elevates and adds a statement feel to everyday outfits.
