Just when we thought the micro-bag craze is about to be over, Dior proves us wrong. The new #DiorMicroBag series by Maria Grazia Chiuri takes iconic House bags and transforms them with miniature proportions.
Think Lady Dior, 30 Montaigne, Caro & Saddle bags, but in micro sizes. Yes, the bags still pack all the luxe details of their full-sized counterparts and they appear in a range of colors including black, red and latte and sunny hues of rose, green and blue. If you are a true Dior lover, you must have noticed that the latest micro editions celebrate the favorite colors of Monsieur Dior himself.
According to Dior, this collection is a “fashion statement attuned to the spirit of the times, an invitation to freedom and movement”. This time around, Dior invites us to “Think Big” in the micro-bag challenge: how much can you fit in one of the new Dior micro bags? Is it just the essentials, or, perhaps, more than that? Let’s take a closer look at each of the new Dior micro styles to find out.
Micro Lady Dior Bag
The most iconic of all Dior bags, the Lady Dior now comes in miniature proportions. Crafted in luxurious Cannage quilted lambskin, the silhouette is further enhanced by “D.I.O.R.” charms and an adjustable shoulder strap. Measuring 12 x 10 x 5 cm, the bag is suitable for carrying a few cards, keys, some cash, a compact and, maybe, a lipstick. Furthermore, in the micro series, there is also an exclusive version of the Micro Lady Dior Bag embellished with pearls. Crafted in latte lambskin, this version comes with resin pearls incorporated into the signature Cannage quilting. So romantic and delicate, an update worth of the Lady Dior!
Micro 30 Montaigne Bag
Taking its name from the place where it all began, the 30 Montaigne Bag is the new classic from Dior. Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and released for Fall 2019, the Dior 30 Montaigne bag embodies House’s iconic style codes in a modern way. Details include the gold-tone “CD” clasp and the “30 Montaigne” signature embossed at the back. Now the house icon also comes in a micro-bag version. Measuring 15 cm in width and 11 cm in height, the Dior Micro 30 Montaigne Bag should fit in a card holder, keys, a compact and other small essentials. Featuring an adjustable shoulder strap, the bag can be carried by hand, worn over the shoulder and crossbody.
Micro Dior Caro Bag
One of the latest additions to the Dior handbag line-up, the Dior Caro, also received a miniature makeover. Featuring all the luxe details of its full-sized counterpart, from the “CD” clasp to the removable chain strap, the Micro Dior Caro is as cute as it is functional. Measuring 13 cm in width and 8 in height, the size is suitable for keys, a lipstick, credit cards and even AirPods. Furthermore, as a part of “Dioramour” Capsule, the Micro Dior Caro Bag gets updated with a bold red “CD” clasp and heart motifs incorporated into the Cannage quilting.
Micro Saddle Bag
A fan favorite Dior Saddle Bag now also comes in a micro version. All the details are here: from the legendary silhouette with a “CD” signature on each side of the strap to the Saddle flap with a “D” stirrup. Measuring 12 cm in width and 7.5 cm in height, the size is suitable for carrying keys, cards and other small essentials. The Micro Dior Saddle bag is supposed to be carried by hand, but if desired, it may be paired with collection’s shoulder straps and micro shoulder straps.
Are Dior Micro Bags worth it?
While the new Dior Micro bags might be too small to fit a smartphone, they’ll for sure hold small essentials, such as keys, cards, cash, AirPods and a lipstick. These bags are, obviously, not on the most practical side, but if you are someone who carries very little, these might work for you.
Anyways, it looks like the micro-bag craze is far from over. Dior’s petite creations are already melting hearts of the micro bag lovers everywhere. Let’s admit, it’s difficult not to like these. But, do we like them enough to press the buy button, or swipe the card in boutique?
The new Dior Micro Bags retail anywhere between $2,550 and $4,300. See them now on Dior.com
