Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag: The Icon Reborn
This year, Nicolas Ghesquière is celebrating his 10-year anniversary working as womenswear director at Louis Vuitton. And what a better way to celebrate than by remembering some of his earliest designs for the brand? That’s right, the FW23 season is about to reintroduce some gems and that includes one ofGhesquière’s first-ever handbag designs for the brand, the GO-14.
Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag History and Design
Revealed in October 2014 during Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2015 show, the Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag takes its name from this debut moment and the Maison’s trailblazing spirit. Fashioned in Malletage, a crisscrossing pattern found on the interiors of first Louis Vuitton trunks, the GO-14 Bag is both timeless and contemporary, merging the Maison’s classic Malletage pattern with modern details, like the twist-lock LV closure which decorates the front of the handbag.
The Louis Vuitton GO-14 is further accessorized with a leather top handle (larger sizes) and a sliding chain, allowing you to wear it many different ways, incl. over the shoulder and crossbody. What is more, the top handle on some sizes of the bag converts into a leather pad for the chain. I mean, let’s just appreciate the attention to detail!

For Fall 2023, the Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag is going to arrive in 3 different sizes, namely, Pico, MM and GM. Pico is the smallest size, whereas the GM is the largest. See the exact dimensions below.

Prices
In terms of price, the Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag in the Pico size will set you back $4,450 plus tax in the U.S., or €3,500 in Europe. MM and GM sizes of the bag are priced at $6,750 and $7,450 respectively (€6,000 and €6,500 in Europe).

Pretty high price range for a new handbag, isn’t it? But well, let’s reserve our judgements for now, as according to Louis Vuitton, the GO-14 Bag is a real challenge to produce. Allegedly, Malletage requires than 20 different steps, including the criss-cross braiding technique that gives the bag its plumpness. The production process also uses 17 meters of top-stitching, which requires more skill and precision compared to conventional quilting.
Is GO-14 Louis Vuitton’s next it-bag?
As expected, numerous celebrities and friends of the Fashion House have already been spotted carrying the bag. Among them were Cate Blanchett, Chloe Grace Moretz, Shay Mitchell and, of course, Emma Stone – the star of handbag’s marketing campaign. But can the GO-14 really become Louis Vuitton’s next it-bag?
