Does a secret lie in its design, or is it something else? Well, keep reading to find out.
A Glimpse into the History
So, the big reason for why I’ve decided to do this guide to the Louis Vuitton Capucines bag now is because in 2023 the bag is celebrating its 10-year launch anniversary. That’s right, Louis Vuitton Capucines bag was first released to the public 10 years ago, in 2013. Actually, to be more specific, the bag was introduced as part of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection.
With its name, the Louis Vuitton Capucines bag pays homage to Rue des Capucines, the street in Paris where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854. This homage to the brand’s roots reflects the bag’s timeless and classical appeal. Furthermore, mounts on the handle of the bag are inspired by the Louis Vuitton’s historic trunks.
Louis Vuitton Capucines Design
Crafted by Louis Vuitton’s skilled artisans, The Capucines Bag is a masterful blend of form and function. The bag’s most distinctive feature is its versatile flap closure, which can be worn in two ways: either tucked inside to reveal the iconic LV monogram flower, or flaunted outside, displaying the elegant LV initials. This dual functionality adds a touch of versatility to the bag, making it suitable for both casual and formal occasions.

The Capucines Bag also features semi-rigid, structured sides, providing the bag with a clean and polished silhouette. The gold or silver metallic hardware complement the silhouette, adding a touch of opulence.
Most Capucines bags feature cowhide lining, with the interior divided in several handy compartments for efficient organization. The design of the handbag is further elevated by a chic top handle, as well as a longer shoulder strap (detachable on most versions).
