I think we can all agree, all of us are very glad that 2020 is coming to the end. What a crazy year it has been! What a better way to close 2020, than by discussing the most popular bags of the year?! In this blog post, I would like to present you with the list of the top 5 bags that dominated our Instagram feeds in 2020.

1. Chanel 19

If I must name one bag that has absolutely dominated my Instagram feed in 2020, it would be the Chanel 19. First released in 2019, Chanel 19 continued to rise in popularity in 2020. A classic bag with a modern twist to it, the Chanel 19 pays homage to brand’s iconic 2.55 bag. In my opinion, the 19 Bag has a huge potential to become a new classic from Chanel. Overall, I have a feeling that we will continue seeing this bag a lot in 2021!

2. Bottega Veneta Padded Cassette Bag

Just when we thought the “it” bags are over, the Bottega Veneta first drops their Pouch, and now the Padded Cassette bag! Probably, the trendiest bag of 2020: Bottega Veneta Padded Cassette. Seen on nearly every influencer and fashion blogger, the Padded Cassette Bag was truly the “it” bag of 2020! The bag is woven in Bottega Veneta’s iconic Intrecciato technique, with the pillowy nappa leather which gives it a unique, puffy appearance. Pillow bags were the biggest bag trend of 2020. Will Padded Cassette remain trendy next year, or should we expect a new “it” bag from Bottega Veneta in 2021?

3. Prada Re-Edition 2005 Nylon Shoulder Bag

You might have noticed, that in recent years, it has become common for luxury brands to look into archieves and reissue old styles. The new Prada Re-Edition 2005 Nylon Shoulder Bag was inspired by Prada’s 2005 Bandoliera Tessuto, a style that was very popular in 2000’s. Many compare the Prada Re-Edition 2005 Nylon Shoulder Bag to the Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessoires as both bags feature similar designs and functionality. However, given that the Prada Re-Edition 2005 is made of nylon, it is way more affordable than the LV Multi-Pochette. It’s also way easier to get your hands on. Perhaps, that’s why, we’ve seen it so much on Instagram in 2020.

4. Dior Saddle Bag

Ever since the bag has been re-released, it has remained at the top of fashion lover’s wishlists. The style was literally “immortalized” on Sex and the City. So, without a doubt, the Dior Saddle Bag is one of the most iconic bags of all time. Over 2020, we have seen the Dior Saddle bag being an arm candy of a lot of our favorite influencers, celebrities and bloggers.

Another handbag revival: Gucci Jackie 1961. Originally known as G1244, the bag was renamed after Jackie Kennedy, as it was the former first lady’s favorite handbag. This year, Gucci has revamped the iconic style. As a result, the Gucci Jackie 1961 was born. Ever since the re-release, the bag became a 2020 Instagram favorite. The Jackie 1961 comes in a variety of sizes and colors. A modern take on a historical House icon.
