Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch Discontinued

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch Discontinued

Okay, you guys. The news have been officially confirmed by Louis Vuitton’s Client Services. The Toiletry Pouch is getting discontinued. I know many Toiletry fans right now are in shock and disbelief, but let’s be honest, many of us saw it coming.

Introduction of the Louis Vuitton Coussin bag has proven that at LV they’ve noticed the trend with carrying larger sizes of the Toiletry Pouch (19 and 26) as handbags. The word on the street was that the Coussin bag was released specifically to combat the trend. To be honest, at first, I really thought this handbag is the next LV “it” bag. However, I’ve changed my mind quickly when I saw the price. $3,550. Seriously?! Thank you, but I think I’ll pass on this one.

If LV’s intention was to make people move from wearing Toiletry Pouches as bags to the new Coussin bag, they should have made it more affordable. The Louis Vuitton Coussin PM is nearly identical in size with the Toiletry 26, but the latter retails for just $580, while the Coussin PM is $3,550. Come on, there is a whopping $2,970 price difference between the two! You could, basically, buy 5 Toiletry 26 pouches (with conversion kits) for that price.

In my opinion, the price is the biggest reason for why so many people continued to choose the Toiletry Pouch. Quite frankly, I think the only reason the Toiletry Pouch is getting discontinued is because now LV sees it as a competition to the Coussin.

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch being discontinued is terrible news for everyone, not just for the budget shoppers looking for an affordable piece that could be repurposed. In the end of the day, many people still used the Toiletry according to its actual purpose: as a toiletry bag, or a catchall inside bigger bags.

A lot of people also used Toiletry Pouches for travel. Especially, larger sizes of the Louis Vuitton Toiletry, like 19 and 26, because those could fit anything from travel-sized toiletries to full-size beauty products and even tech accessories. See the detailed size comparison of the Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouches below:

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch Sizes

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch StyleSize (cm)Size (inches)
Toiletry 1515 x 10 x 4.55.9 x 3.9 x 1.6
Toiletry 1919 x 15 x 67.5 x 5.9 x 2
Toiletry 2626 x 20 x 59.8 x 7.9 x 2

The Toiletry 15 measures 15 centimers in length and 10 cm in height. In terms of capacity, this one compares to the Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette Accessories. The Toiletry 15 is just perfect size for such essentials like small make-up, keys, cash and cards.

The Louis Vuitton Toiletry 19 measures 19 cm in length and 15 in height. It is large enough to hold travel-sized toiletries and other small essentials required when going for a short weekend trip. However, if you are going on a longer trip, or prefer carrying full-size toiletries with you, the Toiletry Pouch 26 is a wiser choice. This one measures 26 cm in length and 20 cm in height. The Louis Vuitton Toiletry 26 will easily hold all of your travel necessities and even a 250 ml bottle of shampoo.

How You Can Still buy the Toiletry Pouch

Even though the Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch has been discontinued, some boutiques still have it in stock. So, if you are looking to get a Toiletry Pouch, you better act fast and ring up your local boutique or SA. You still might be able to get it. Otherwise, you will have to go pre-loved. While there is nothing wrong with shopping pre-loved, we all understand, that now when the style is discontinued, prices are going to skyrocket on the resale. Try to get youself one from the boutique while you still can!

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch Alternatives

Obviously, at some point, Louis Vuitton boutiques are going to run out of stock of the Toiletry Pouch. Then, we will have to either buy it pre-loved or find an alternative. I think the best alternative for the Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch 15 is the Mini Pochette Accessoires. Both items are comparable in size and fit in a similar amount of stuff. Actually, the Mini Pochette comes with an added bonus of a short chain strap. So, you could also carry it like a micro bag if you wanted to.

When it comes to Toiletries 19 and 26, I think, the best alternative out there is the Louis Vuitton Pochette Voyage MM. Found in men’s section, this pouch looks incredibly similar to the Toiletry 26, with the same rectangular shape and zipper closure. Nonetheless, there are several differences between the two. The Toiletry 26 comes in Monogram Canvas, while the Pochette Voyage MM is crafted in LV’s Monogram Eclipse Canvas that is black and gray color. In addition, on the interior, the Pochette Voyage MM features 6 credit card slots and a flat pocket.

While there are certainly some good alternatives out there, I think the Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch will be greatly missed. I mean, it was such an iconic item. We only can hope that someday LV will bring it back!
