The New Chanel Mini Flap Bag: All The Details
Has anyone else noticed that Chanel has recently released a new size for the Mini?
First released in the early 2010’s, the Chanel Mini Flap Bag quickly rose to become a top seller for the brand. But I guess it is really no wonder, as this bag is basically a scaled-down version of the brand’s iconic Classic Flap, featuring the same iconic CC turnlock clasp, diamond quilting and the interwoven leather chain. Not even to mention its much friendlier price tag, which at the time of writing this post is $5,200 for the Rectangular Mini and $5,000 for the Mini Square (that’s right, Chanel Mini Flap bag also comes in several distinct variations). And this season there is something else for all of us to get excited about: introduction of the brand-new size for the bag.
The new Chanel FW2024 Mini Flap Bag
Arriving as part of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, the new Chanel Mini size is slightly smaller than the brand’s classic Rectangular Mini flap, coming in at 7.1 inches in length and 4.7 in height (compared to 7.75 and 4.7 inches for the Rectangular Mini).
Fans of the style will quickly remember the once offered Extra Mini Flap which measured at 6.7 inches in length and 3.8 in height. Though that bag is now discontinued, which I personally think had to do with its extra-petite proportions: you could not really fit in anything but the bare minimum.
What fits in the new Chanel Mini?
The new Mini size, however, is promising to be much more user-friendly than the discontinued Extra Mini. I mean, if judging purely by its dimensions, it looks like you should be able to fit in a larger iPhone, the keys and a cardholder – basically, all of those most important essentials. The new size also comes priced at $5,000, which is $200 lower than the standard Rectangular Mini.

Will this new mini size stick around? Well, time will tell. However, it’s certainly really similar to the brand’s Rectangular Mini Flap Bag. And while I don’t want to speculate, having two nearly identical mini bag options in the collection does seem redundant. So, I will not be surprised if later on Chanel choose to fully replace the Mini Rectangular with this new Mini size. What about you?
