A Guide to Discontinued Louis Vuitton Handbags
A few days ago, I was browsing over my designer bag wishlist and noticed that one bag from it just recently got discontinued. It was the Pallas Clutch by Louis Vuitton. For a moment it made me really sad as I was planning to get this bag on my next trip to Paris and now it’s not going to happen. However, then I caught myself thinking about all other bags that have been recently discontinued by Louis Vuitton. In this blog post, I will do my best to walk you through them and see if they are still possible to find on the pre-loved market.
Louis Vuitton Pallas Clutch

I am starting up the list of the discontinued LV bags with the bag that in a way inspired this blog post. LV’s Pallas Clutch has been long on my wishlist. For a while, I wanted to add a compact and functional bag to my collection. The Pallas Clutch can be worn four ways: as a shoulder bag, a crossbody, a wristlet and a hand-held clutch. It has enough space to fit in an iPhone, a smaller wallet or a card case, and few other essentials. In addition, the bag’s unique design of Monogram Canvas with supple grained cowhide leather makes it a stylish choice for day-to-evening wear. Now when the Pallas Clutch has been discontinued, the only way to buy it is by going the pre-loved route. I have managed to find the bag in excellent condition both on Fashionphile and Vestiaire Collective.
Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch

The Eva Clutch by Louis Vuitton was popular for a very long period of time. So, for many it was a big surprise when the bag got discontinued. The Eva Clutch used to come in all three iconic Louis Vuitton prints: the Monogram Canvas, Damier Ebene and Damier Azur. I think the major reason for why the bag got discontinued was the fact that at the time Louis Vuitton had several similar bags in their line. Eva Clutch, Favorite MM and Pochette Felicie had all something in common: similar size and functionality. If you are want the Eva Clutch, the good news are that the bag is still freely available on the pre-loved market. For example, this Eva Clutch which is now on sale on Fashionphile, is in excellent condition and has a price tag of less than a $1000. And this is just one example.
Louis Vuitton Berkeley

The bag that I remember being advertised as a flashier version of the Speedy is the Louis Vuitton Berkeley. This bag was popular in late 2000’s and has completely disappeared from the Louis Vuitton’s website around 2013. The Berkeley is a satchel-style bag. It used to come in Damier Ebene and Damier Azur canvas. The bag features adjustable rolled leather top handles, polished brass hardware and a golden “Louis Vuitton Inventeur” plaque on the front. It opens to a spacious red microfiber interior. Overall, I think that the Berkeley is a great everyday bag. However, now, when it has been discontinued, the bag is quite difficult to find on the pre-loved market. I’ve only found one Berkeley that is currently for sale in Damier Azur canvas on Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Trouville

The bag from Louis Vuitton that was very popular back in early 2000’s is the Trouville. This bag was known as a smaller version of the Deauville Vanity Case. It featured a washable interior with several compartment pockets. The Trouville was a favorite bag of many. People loved it for its practicality and functionality. Furthermore, the Trouville bag was available in both Classic Monogram and Multicolor Monogram canvas. I was able to find several LV Trouvilles for sale on theRealReal. However, one particular thing that I’ve noticed is that the pre-loved bag in Multicolor Monogram canvas is slightly more expensive than the bag in Classic Monogram.
Louis Vuitton Mabillon

The Louis Vuitton Mabillon bag was first released in 2015. The bag was crafted in classic LV Monogram canvas. It featured an envelope style flap front pocket and opened up to a spacious fabric-lined interior. Mabillon had a very classy and sophisticated design. Furthermore, the bag was really lightweight. It had an adjustable crossbody strap that made it easy to carry. Mabillon was a perfect bag for a city lifestyle! Compared to some of the other LV bags that have been discontinued, Mabillon crossbody was actually on the market for a very short time. The bag first appeared in boutiques in 2015 and by summer 2017 it has been discontinued. Nonetheless, it is still possible to find it on the pre-loved market. Check out this beautiful pre-loved Mabillon bag listed for sale on Fashionphile!
Louis Vuitton Delightful

The bag that has long been among some of the most popular bags by Louis Vuitton was the Delightful tote. The Delightful was first introduced in 2010 as a part of LV’s Pre-Fall Collection. Delightful could hold a lot of things and this is why many considered it a great alternative to the Neverfull bag. LV Delightful came in three sizes: PM, MM and GM. The bag featured a striped lining interior, a D-ring and golden brass hardware details. The Delightful was available in Monogram and Damier Ebene canvas. In 2017 it was announced that the Delightful bag is to be discontinued and replaced by a new bag called Graceful. You can still find the Delightful on the pre-loved market. Both Fashionphile and Vestiaire Collective have several of these bags for sale at the moment.
Louis Vuitton Retiro

The Retiro was a bowling style everyday bag by Louis Vuitton. Initially, Retiro was introduced in two sizes: PM and GM. The bag came in classic LV Monogram. It featured gold-tone hardware, suede interior and had an adjustable shoulder strap. In 2015 the style was updated and the new edition was called Louis Vuitton Retiro NM, where NM stands for “new model”. However, it seems that today all three options of the bag got discontinued. Nonetheless, you can still find Louis Vuitton Retiro on the pre-loved market. Many are currently listed for sale on Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Pallas Shopper

Another bag from the Louis Vuitton Pallas line that has been discontinued is the Pallas Shopper. It was a chic tote with part leather and part chain shoulder straps. The Pallas Shopper came in classic LV Monogram with a leather top trim. The bag opened to a spacious microfiber interior with zipper and patch pockets. The Pallas Shopper is still relatively easy to find on the pre-loved market. I found several Pallas Shopper bags for sale on Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Tivoli

One of the many Louis Vuitton bags that were very popular in early 2000’s was Tivoli. The bag was released in the year 2000 and was discontinued over a decade later, in 2014. The Tivoli bag available in 2 versions: PM and GM; both in classic LV Monogram canvas. Tivoli GM featured adjustable handles that made is comfortable to wear it both as a handbag and as shoulder bag. Both PM and GM sizes of the Tivoli bag are present on the pre-loved market. There are currently quite a few of them for sale on Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Odeon

It also appears that the Louis Vuitton Odeon has been discontinued. The bag used to come in classic LV Monogram and was available in three sizes: PM, MM and GM. The LV Odeon was a very versatile everyday bag. The long leather shoulder strap that the bag came with allowed to wear it both on the shoulder and as a crossbody. You can still find all three versions of the Odeon bag on the pre-loved market. Check out this Louis Vuitton Odeon PM in a very good condition that I found on Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Bloomsbury

A bag that in a way was very similar to the Louis Vuitton Odeon was Louis Vuitton Bloomsbury. LV Bloomsbury was first released in 2009. The bag was crafted in Damier Ebene canvas and was available in two sizes: PM and GM. The Bloomsbury could be worn as a shoulder bag and as a crossbody. As of now the bag is discontinued. Bloomsbury GM isn’t very easy to come by on the pre-loved market. However, I did manage to find several of these bags in the PM size on Rebag and Fashionphile.
Louis Vuitton Mazarine

A Louis Vuitton bag that has been discontinued quite recently is the Mazarine. The bag was introduced as a part of Louis Vuitton’s 2016 Cruise Collection. It came in Monogram Empreinte leather and was available in two sizes: MM and PM. The Mazarine bag featured a gorgeous shape with two toting handles and a detachable strap that allowed to wear the bag on the shoulder. The Mazarine opened to a spacious fabric-lined interior. I think, the Mazarine in MM size could serve as an ideal everyday bag. However, it isn’t very easy to come by on the pre-loved market. At the time when I checked on Fashionphile, there were only two Mazarine bags listed for sale: one in MM and one in PM size.
These are the 12 Louis Vuitton bags that have been discontinued. Of course, this list is most likely not complete as it’s impossible to find information on every single bag out there that has been discontinued. However, I will keep my eye on this topic. So, stay tuned for more blog posts related to discontinued designer bags!
I hope that this blog post has been helpful!
The nicest bag isn’t mentioned. It’s the very first one that is in the pic with the model. What is the name of that one? Thanks
Hi, Patrice! Thanks for your comment. The bag on the model is indeed mentioned, it’s the Louis Vuitton Retiro in classic LV Monogram. In 2015, Louis Vuitton has updated the look of the bag and released the NM (new model) Retiro. However, as of today, all of them got discontinued.
Nice article.
What about my favorite the totally.
I had one but it turned out to be defective. I received a credit but would really prefer to have the bag.
Hi Joan! Many thanks for your feedback. I highly appreciate it! Yes, it looks like the Totally has been discontinued. So, I am afraid you will have to use your store credit on something else. I guess, the only way to get the bag now is through the pre-loved market.
I really want an Eva Clutch but all the ones I’m seeing for resale all have date codes after 2010 and selling for over $1000. Were these bags still produced after 2010?
Hey there! Yes, Eva clutch was still produced after 2010. As far as I can remember, it was discontinued around 2016-2017.
I’m really trying to find a new Montaigne MM, which has been discontinued but I know it’s still available in retail stores. Can I call a store and have it shipped to me?
Thanks
You should totally call the store! I’ve shopped at LV through the phone numerous times. It was never a problem getting things shipped to me. Or, alternatively, you could also try to arrange an in-store pickup.
Curious to know what the retail price of the tivoli pm was before it got discontinued? I’m thinking of getting one preloved but also don’t want to be taken advantage from. Please let me know a good price range for one of these now. Thank you
I think it was around $1,500. Actually, there are multiple Tivoli PM bags available through Fashionphile right now and all are priced under $1,000 (also in very good condition). I think a fair price to pay through the pre-loved market would be within $800 and a $1,000. Hope this helps!
Has the Louie Vuitton Totally PM bag been discontinued
Hi! Yes it looks like it.
