The 5 Best Celine Bags Right Now

Celine’s handbags have long been considered the ultimate investment piece due to their timeless designs and minimalist aesthetic. But which Celine bag is actually the best one to add to your collection? While Philo-era “Old Céline” bags are obviously iconic, Hedi Slimane’s and now, Michael Rider’s “New Celine” styles are just as beautiful.

I must admit, I am personally an avid fan of “Old Celine”. I was genuinely disappointed when Phoebe Philo announced her departure from the house in 2017. Her minimalist designs had a certain appeal that was difficult to replicate, and many of her handbags remain just as desirable today as they were when they first launched.

With that being said, I also appreciate what came next. Hedi Slimane introduced a new generation of recognizable Celine handbags, including the Triomphe, Ava and 16. And with Michael Rider now bringing his own perspective to the house, some of Celine’s archival designs are getting a new lease of life.

So, whether you prefer the understated aesthetic of Old Céline or the more contemporary New Celine, here are seven Celine bags I believe deserve a place on your radar, including a few discontinued designs that are still worth hunting down on the pre-loved market.

1. Celine Classic Box Bag / Celine Triomphe

Best for: timeless elegance

If there is just one Celine handbag I will never stop recommending, it is the Classic Box Bag. Introduced in 2011 under the creative direction of Phoebe Philo, this design was inspired by a vintage Celine bag from the 1970s, with its structured silhouette, clean lines and understated clasp perfectly capturing everything I love about Old Céline.

Unfortunately, the original Box has been discontinued circa spring of 2023, to make space for the new Celine Triomphe, a Hedi Slimane design which offers a similar boxy silhouette with the addition of the house’s signature Triomphe clasp. Personally, I find the Classic Box to be more timeless (largely because of its minimalist design and lack of prominent logos or statement hardware). But honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these two.

2. Celine Ava

Best for: A chic everyday shoulder bag

If the Classic Box is for lovers of timeless elegance, the Celine Ava is definitely for the it girl. Since its introduction, this little shoulder bag has become a favourite among fashion influencers and street-style enthusiasts, and it’s not difficult to see why.

Featuring a sleek, curved silhouette inspired by 1990s shoulder bags, the Ava has that effortless, cool-girl appeal that makes even the simplest outfit look more put together. Available in several variations, including smooth leather and the recognizable Triomphe Canvas, it’s a versatile little bag that looks just as good with jeans and a blazer as it does with a more dressed-up outfit.

3. Celine Luggage Tote

Best for: a statement tote bag

Remember when everyone seemed to be carrying a Celine Luggage Tote? I certainly do! Back in the early 2010s, this bag was absolutely everywhere! And I would say even more: it was one of those designs you could recognize from across the room, even without seeing the Celine logo.

Introduced in 2010 under Phoebe Philo, the Luggage Tote quickly became one of Celine’s most recognizable handbags. Its distinctive winged silhouette, front zipper and sculptural shape made it stand out from just about everything else on the market at the time.

And here is the exciting part: the Celine Luggage Tote is back! For Spring 2026, Celine has revisited this iconic design, introducing new interpretation that brings the familiar silhouette into the present day. And yes, the bag still has the smiley compartment in the front!

4. Celine Trio

Best for: a practical crossbody bag

The Celine Trio is another design that takes me straight back to the height of Phoebe Philo’s era. Introduced in 2011, it became a favourite thanks to its clever construction: three separate zipped pouches joined together to create a lightweight, surprisingly practical crossbody bag.

The original Trio has since been discontinued, but Celine has brought the design back with a new version that retains the signature three-compartment concept. Though the difference is that the pouches are now integrated into a single bag rather than being detachable. Idk about you, but I personally prefer the old version, as it was significanly more versatile.

5. Celine Belt Bag

Best for: quiet luxury

Another Phoebe Philo-era favourite, the Celine Belt Bag was introduced in the Pre-Fall 2014 collection. Its structured silhouette, clean lines and distinctive knotted leather detail make it one of those designs that manages to look elegant without relying on prominent logos or flashy hardware.

Celine has since discontinued the Belt Bag, but I still think it’s well worth considering on the pre-loved market. Available in several sizes, including Pico, Nano, Micro and Mini, it is a stunning everyday handbag with a timeless appeal.

Are Celine Bags Worth it?

From the iconic Classic Box Bag to the trendy Ava, Celine has created some of the most beautiful designer handbags on the market. But are they worth their often hefty price tags? In my opinion, absolutely!

See, one of the things that I appreciate most about Celine is how well its designs stand the test of time. Compared with many other luxury labels, which constantly reinvent their handbags to keep up with the latest trends, Celine has a knack for creating silhouettes that remain relevant years after their debut. I mean, just look at the Classic Box, Luggage tote or even the Belt Bag. Some of these styles are no longer in production (have been discontinued), but haven’t lost their appeal. And in my opinion, this makes Celine bags some of the best ones to invest in. There’s just something so amazing about buying a designer bag knowing it won’t feel dated after a season or two.
