Chanel’s “Crushed” 2.55 Bag is Here
Anyone else thought that the crushed 2.55 bag from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2026 show wouldn’t go to production? I definitely did. I mean, who in their right mind would want to buy a bag that looks as if it was run over by a truck? Well, apparently some collectors may want to. Hence why Chanel just launched it in several sizes and colorways. Discover all the details below.
The New “Crushed” Chanel 2.55
Introduced during Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2026 show, which also coincided with Matthieu Blazy’s debut for Chanel, the new crushed 2.55 bag is the designer’s interpretation of a lived-in purse. Basically, instead of the structured original 2.55, the leather on the new bag is folded and crumpled, giving it a unique, lived-in feel. Further enhancing the vibe? A partly exposed interior revealing the iconic burgundy leather lining. Thus, why I personally think you wouldn’t be able to use this bag as one. Just because…your belongings would simply fall out.
That aside, the new 2.55 has all other elements of the original, including the chain strap, quilted design, and the Mademoiselle clasp. The intentionally-crushed handbag also comes in an array of colors and materials, including a hard-shell, metallic option that also was spotted on Chanel’s SS26 runway.
The price? $13,800 for the leather mini, $14,700 for the leather maxi and “price upon request” for the metal option. Steep? No doubt, because the original mini 2.55 currently goes for just 5,400 USD. Not to even mention that it’s an actual, usable handbag. So for whom is this novelty?

Chanel collectors, possibly. Though, according to my SA, pre-orders are (allegedly) quite low for this collection. Thus, even seasoned Chanel buyers aren’t really into this. But it’s certainly a good debut for Matthieu Blazy, who with this release has shown he’s here to break the rules!
What are your thoughts on the new 2.55? Would you add it to your collection?
