The Chloé Paddington Returns
If you lived through the mid-2000s—or even just scrolled through old paparazzi shots of that era—you know the Chloe Paddington bag was THE bag of the era. Debuting in 2005 under the creative direction of Phoebe Philo, the Paddington quickly became a Y2K fashion icon, instantly recognizable by its oversized padlock and slouchy, bohemian silhouette. Basically, every “it” girl of the time—from Kate Moss to Mischa Barton—had one, and those who didn’t… wanted one.
Though, as it was with most of the bags of the era, the Paddington bag eventually faded from the spotlight. Blame it on the changing fashion trends, the growing appetite for logo mania, and/or simply the fact that fashion always evolves.
But you know what’s also really funny about fashion? It goes in cycles. Basically, what’s out today has every chance of being the hottest thing again in a few years—and the current Y2K revival is proof. From the triumphant return of the Fendi Baguette to the revival of Louis Vuitton’s whimsical collaboration with Murakami, the return of the Chloé Paddington Bag was pretty much a given. That’s right, the Chloé Paddington is officially returning for Fall/Winter 2025! And I’ve got all the details.
The 2025 Chloé Paddington Bag
So, how does the Chloé Paddington bag look like in 2025? Well, design-wise, it’s virtually identical to its predecessor: the same softly structured silhouette, the signature oversized padlock, and that laid-back, bohemian charm that made it a street-style staple in the first place. But can you guess where the major difference lies? Right, it’s in the weight of the bag.
Basically, if you’re old enough to have carried the original Paddington, you probably remember the weight—it was practically a workout just to take it out for the day. So, for this re-release, Chloé did their best to fix this, which I am honestly really thankful for.
The relaunched Paddington bag is also to arrive in a wide array of colors. On the brand’s FW2025 runway in particular, we saw shades of khaki, burgundy, and grey-toned navy, while Chloé’s dedicated microsite also featured beige, cream, brown, and black. Btw, you can already register your interest for the new Chloé Paddington bag right now at the same microsite. Or alternatively, of course, you can also try your luck pre-loved. Albeit, prices for vintage Paddington bags have jumped up quite a bit recently (which is often the case for when the handbag is being relaunched).
But what about the new version? Well, that one is expected to land in stores and online around mid-September. And idk about you, but I am really excited to see the new Chloe Paddington Bag in person!
