I Tried the CurrentBody LED Mask: Here are My Thoughts
While the third season of Emily in Paris has undoubtedly served us with quite a few iconic fashion moments (as expected), it also introduced us to quite a few amazing products. Yes, I am talking about the skincare gadget that’s on everyone’s mouths right now – the CurrentBody LED Mask.
Spotted in the very first episode of the season three, the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask is an at-home LED light treatment that promises glowing and younger-looking skin with just 10 minutes of the daily use. Quite powerful claims, aren’t they? Well, being someone who visibly suffers from dull skin during the winter months, I straight away knew I had to put this to the test. But of course, not without doing my research beforehand.

What is LED Light Therapy?
LED light therapy, also known as light-emitting diode therapy, is a non-invasive skincare treatment that exposes your skin to a range of colored wavelengths (most commonly blue, red and near-infrared) which are clinically proven to rejuvenate and visibly improve the appearance of the skin.
Blue light, specifically, sits around 400 nanometers (NM) on the electromagnetic spectrum and is known for its antibacterial properties, which make it a useful tool for treating an array of skin conditions, including acne and eczema.
Red light, on the other hand, sits around the 600 mark, meaning that it penetrates the skin at a much deeper level. Particularly, multiple studies have found that red light is highly effective at improving skin tone and reversing signs of aging, as when it enters the skin, it stimulates the fibroblast cells responsible for collagen production.
And finally, the near-infrared light starts from the 700 mark on the spectrum, which means that it penetrates the skin at the deepest.
Actually, besides being great for anti-aging, the near-infrared light has also been proven to provide anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects.
The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask

Using a combination of both red (633NM) and near-infrared (830NM) light, the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask not only stimulates collagen production but also promotes cell renewal for visibly younger and healthier skin.
CurrentBody claims that their LED Mask will reduce wrinkles by 35% in just 4 weeks of consistent use. And indeed, 95% of users reported that their skin tone, texture and firmness were improved after use. Many users also noted an improvement in the appearance of pigmentation spots and scarring caused by acne and inflammation.
Unlike other LED masks, the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask is made of patented flexible silicone that fits perfectly around the face, ensuring that a sufficient dose of dual LED is delivered to all of your face, and not just some areas.
The CurrentBody LED Mask also comes with a fully flexible & adjustable headband that ensures a perfect fit on any face. And yes, you can totally go about your daily activities while wearing the mask (like watching tv, reading a book, walking around the house, etc.), as it is powered by a rechargeable battery.
The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask – My experience
For best results, CurrentBody recommends using their LED Mask five times a week, 10 minutes per day. With that being said, the actual process of using the mask was pretty easy – simply secure the mask around your face, hold down the power button and you’re good to go (just make sure that you use the mask on a cleansed face and it is charged beforehand). I was also really pleased to learn that the mask comes with a built-in timer that shuts it automatically after ten minutes of use. So, no need to worry about setting a timer!

I’ve now been using the CurrentBody LED Mask for around four weeks (since the beginning of January) and to be completely honest, I can’t notice any significant anti-aging effects yet. But that’s entirely okay, because at 28 years old, the amount of wrinkles around my forehead is still pretty minimal. I also didn’t get this face mask for its anti-aging promises – it was the promise of glowing skin that got me interested in it in the first place and on which I am very happy to report that the CurrentBody LED Mask has over-delivered!
Seriously, my skin has never looked this bright and luminous! And I’ve noticed this “instant glow” right after the first use. I guess now I can really see why so many make-up artists like to use the CurrentBody LED Mask on stars before they hit the red carpet.
Furthermore, I’ve also noticed that I’ve been getting significantly fewer breakouts whilst using the mask and that those breakouts that I did get did heal much faster. If you ask me, that’s a reason alone to continue using it.
Should you try the CurrentBody LED Mask?
I was sent the CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Mask by CurrentBody in exchange for an honest review. But honestly, even if I had to purchase this LED face mask with my own money, I totally would. The thing is that unlike many other LED Masks on the market, CurrentBody’s has been clinically proven to deliver results, while being one of the most affordable LED masks on the market, with a retail price of just $380.
