What’s the easiest summer outfit you can think of? I don’t know how about you, but for me it’s always been a dress and sandals. Think about it. Three seconds and the dress is on. Then, all you’re left to do is put on a pair of sandals and you’re ready to go. Does it get any easier than that? I don’t think so.

Dresses are such a quintessential part of our summer wardrobes that one can never have too many. And, the vacation season approaching gives us a perfect excuse to shop for summer dresses!

The best summer dresses can be quite hard to come by, if you don’t know what you are looking for. In my opinion, when it comes to summer dresses, there are five key styles every woman needs in her wardrobe. And without any further ado, here they are!

1. Midi Dress

One of the most versatile dress silhouettes ever invented, the midi dress is a summer staple. While you can really wear a midi dress all year long, Spring/Summer is the season when midi dresses come in full force. Gingham, floral, polka dot, stripe, short sleeve or no sleeve at all, in summer, midi dresses come in an abundance of options. The best part? A midi dress is truly a dress for all occasions. For an effortless everyday outfit, pair a midi dress with sneakers, while for a formal event, try to style a midi dress with heels.

2. Slip Dress

It’s safe to say that no summer wardrobe is complete without a slip dress. A piece that was once considered lingerie has proven itself to be more versatile than you could ever imagine. Slip dresses work for just about any occasion and they are incredibly easy to style. Just swap between sandals, heels, or sneakers depending on the occasion. Slip dresses also transition effortlessly from day to night. Simply add some statement accessories and you’re ready to go.

3. White Dress

On one hand, a white dress, doesn’t seem like anything special, but on the other hand, it’s a solution for all summer style problems. Have no idea what to wear? Just put on a white dress. Problem solved! White dresses are a foolproof choice for just about every summer occasion, is it a casual city stroll, or a formal event. From mini to maxi options, white dresses allow for endless styling opportunities. Just change your shoes and your white dress will feel like new, every time you wear it.

4. Floral Dress

While floral dresses can be worn year-round, there no better time to embrace the dreamy print than the summer months. From trendy puff-sleeve minis to flowy maxi dresses, there is a floral dress out there for every occasion. Don’t be afraid to play with different silhouettes. The flower print looks good on them all. It’s also an easy print to dress up or down. For a casual look, pair a floral dress with trainers, while for a formal event, try a floral dress with strappy sandals and some delicate jewelry.

5. Bright-colored Dress

While the neutral color palette is always the safest option to go for, your summer wardrobe also deserves some color. Everyone should have, at least, one bright-colored dress in their summer wardrobe. The silhouette here doesn’t matter. A dress in a bright color will make a statement on its own. For the ultimate summer vibe, wear your’s with espadrilles, or dress it up with some statement heels and jewelry.
